Sutures

Feuerstein surgical suture, a suture-needle-combinations, meet the highest standards set by modern surgery today. The suture is attached to the needle with high precision, to guarantee a smooth and atraumatic changeover from needle to thread. The combination of needle and suture are prefitted and assembled. This preassembly saves time and eliminates the most difficult threading of very fine needles and sutures. The surgical sutures are delivered in boxes of 12 pieces, made of environmentally friendly cardboard paper. Each surgical suture is individually sterile-packed. Beside our surgical sutures we also offer pre-cut sutures without needle, which might be combined with our eyed surgical needles.

Atraumatic needles

Atraumatic needles are firmly attached to the suture ("swaged"). This stepless transition between needle and suture minimizes tissue trauma. The atraumatic needles used in surgery have to meet a wide variety of requirements. We therefore offer a wide range of needles for the surgical sutures , suitable for many different applications. We only use needles made of stainless steel with excellent properties, to perfectly suit the surgeon’s needs.

Multifilament sutures

Our sutures are multifilament braided sutures, made of silk or polyester. Multifilament sutures consist of several filaments, which supports greater tensile strength, compared to monofilament sutures, which are made of only one filament. To reduce the higher drag of multifilament sutures, due to the rougher surface, our sutures are coated with silicone. Multifilament sutures excel in pliability, suture strength and flexibility.

Silk is a natural, non-absorbable, braided or twisted surgical suture material. A special braiding method guarantees ideal tear strength and an even thread structure. It is easy to handle and water repellent, while ensuring perfect knot security. Our silk sutures are dyed black for easy visibility in tissue. On the packaging, silk sutures are marked blue.

Polyester is a synthetic, non-absorbable, braided and coated suture material. Polyester provides a long-term tensile strength retention and very good tissue compatibility. The suture features optimal gliding properties through the tissues, good linear and knot tensile strength and an easy handling. Our polyester sutures are dyed green for easy visibility in tissue. On the packaging, polyester sutures are marked orange.
